Orange rolling out Android 2.2 for HTC Desire

It’s about a long time now, that folks over at Orange UK are waiting for Android 2.2 for their HTC Desire, because T-Mobile and Vodafone HTC Desire is already on Android 2.2. So finally, Orange spokesman confirmed it via Twitter that they are rolling the Android 2.2 update for HTC Desire. The update is available for you now. If you can’t see it, then try changing you time and move it one week ahead, and then do a manual check for updates. So folks here it is, so Orange folks, if you got the Android 2.2 for your Desire, then don’t forget to tell us about it in the comment box.

Yesterday, we saw the first shot of the upcoming LG Vortex, which is actually the LG Optimus One for Verizon. We already know about the specs about the Optimus One, but one feature is missing in Vortex. Vortex will not be featuring the FM Radio, which is a bad news for folks who love radio-capable phones.

Verizon picked up Bing search over Google search for LG Vortex. The phones comes with Froyo in it, and Engadget tipster told them that it’s a pretty good device. I think Vortex would be a good choice for folks who are looking forward to a cheap, good, and a reliable Android device. Watch another shot of the Vortex after the break:

Nokia N900 vs Palm Pre match was the best match of Smartphone Championship yet, where both phones got a lot of support from their fans, but unfortunately there is only one winner. We got total of 6,756 votes, from which Nokia N900 got 3,468 and Palm Pre got 3,288, and finally Nokia N900 takes the lead by 180 votes. I want to thanks everyone for voting, and all the sites for mentioning us. And I heard some of the folks were saying that we were supporting Nokia N900 personally, and when N900 takes the lead, we closed the poll. I want to clear the air that this is not true, every poll runs for 2 days, and after 2 days the poll closed it self automatically. So folks, the first round of semi final is over, and now lets head to second round.

The next match is between the popular Samsung Galaxy S and Xperia X10. So folks check out the specs of Xperia X10 and Samsung Galaxy S, and choose the one you think is better. So folks, on your marks, get set, VOTE !

Dell teases 7-inch Android powered tablet

Micheal Dell’s favorite habit is teasing us. This time he came up with something new, and it’s the 7” Inch Android powered tablet. Folks over at Engadget is saying that this is the long-rumored Dell Looking Glass Android tablet, and Dell has plans to launch the Looking glass in November. Nothing is known at the moment, because Micheal only shows us the tablet, he didn’t care to share any information about specs, availability, or pricing. I hope that the Looking Glass tablet will not be running an outdated Android version like the Dell Streak. Have a look on rumored specs after the break:

  • Android 2.1
  • NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor with an optional TV tuner module
  • 7″ display offering a resolution of 800×480
  • 4GB RAM
  • 4GB internal storage
  • Micro SD port expandable up to 32GB
  • 1.3 megapixel camera

I hope the tablet will come with Android 2.2 at launch, or 3.0. Micheal Dell also said that they will bring the Dell Streak a.k.a Mini 5 to Best Buy next month.

Droid 2 Global edition leaked, features a 1.2 Ghz processor?

A few days ago, we told you that Verizon will be discontinuing the current model of Droid 2, and will launch a world edition of Droid 2 instead of it. First it was just a rumor, but now it fells like a true story, because the image above is the first image of the Motorola Droid 2 World edition, which is actually a dual GSM/CDMA version of Droid 2. The model you can see in the image above is white, and Droid-Life is saying that there will be other colors too, like blue and black. There is no difference between the Droid 2 and Droid 2 Global, only the radio frequencies, but may be the processor too. The current Droid 2 comes with a 1 GHz processor, but according to screenshot below, may be the D2 World edition features a 1.2 Ghz processor. Well that would be good news if you are currently looking forward to Droid 2 World Edition. A full 200 MHz higher than the current model, is that the only new upgrade, or there is something else too? We’ll figure it out soon.

Today is an exciting day for all folks who want to see HTC HD7, because a lot of images of it are leaked today. First of all, the folks over WMPUser got their hands on a sketch of HTC HD7, which proves that the handset is real and is on its way. Then WMPUser come up with another photo and some information on specification of the phone. They spotted the specs details on a German site, and they are saying that the device comes with a huge 4.3 inch WVGA screen with 16 million colors, runs on a standard 1Ghz Snapdragon processor,  5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and HD video recording, and 8 GB storage, that’s all they know. 8GB storage is a little less, but don’t worry, there’s a microSD slot, so you can upgrade to your desirable memory. And now, lets talk about some real thing. After the break, you will see some first real shots of the HTC HD7. Actually, the codename of the phone is HD3 (you can see at the back), but it will be known as HTC HD7 because of the Windows Phone 7. Also we can see a kickstand right around the camera, which looks really sexy. The only thing which is deal breaker in it is 8GB storage, but folks listen, you have a microSD slot, so you can use a 32GB card too. I hope HTC will ship a microSD card with it. By the way folks, this is the best HTC HD series mobile yet, isn’t it?

Android 2.2 for Samsung Galaxy S coming out in late October?

A few months ago, we told you that Samsung has officially announced that they will bring Android 2.2 to Samsung Galaxy S in late September, which is currently we are going through. And now Samsung Spain is saying that Galaxy S will receive Android 2.2 in late October. Have a look on the statement:

Many of us are wondering about the date of publication of the update to Galaxy S. FroyoFinally it will be in late October through Samsung Kies.Monday at 8:15 a.m.

So here we have it, it’s not confirm that this is also for US Galaxy S models, may be this is only for Spain. But if Samsung didn’t launch it by the end of this month, then this might be true. Well folks, that’s all we know. All the competitors of Galaxy S are on Android 2.2 (EVO 4G, Droid X), and Galaxy S is falling down because of this reason. So folks I hope Samsung will launch Android 2.2 for Galaxy S asap, so it can stand with its competitors with pride.

Folks over at Androinica discovered something good on HTC Spanish Twitter account which is a good news for folks, who are currently using a HTC Android device, with HTC Sense UI and Android 2.2. The good news is that all these users will be able to get a taste of new Sense UI, which was launched by HTC a few days ago. Here’s what HTC Spain said:

The Desire and rest of terminals with version 2.2 (Froyo) will be able to enjoy the #Htcsense a greeting

It’s not confirm though, but you can take it as a healthy grain of salt. Well, HTC Russia said that there is no final decision yet, but I know HTC, they are kind people and they love their customers. Also a bad news is that the HTC Hero will not be receiving the Sense UI update, which is obviously a bad news for all Hero users, but who knows may be HTC change their mind. So folks stay tuned with us for latest information.

Okay folks, it’s finally here. Android 2.2 for Droid X is now available, you just need to check Settings>About phone>Check for updates, and Voila!. The cat is finally out of the bag, so folks get your cup of Froyo. Download it, and tell us about it. I am sure that all Droid X users are happy, and folks who were not buying Droid X because they were afraid that Motorola will not fulfill their promise like they did on Droid, you can now hit your local Verizon store and can get your Droid X now !

Blackberry “BlackPad” coming out next week?

According to the Wall Street Journal, Blackberry is going to announce their first ever tablet next week during the annual developer meeting, and it will be known as BlackPad. They also said that it will be a 7″ inch tablet, and it will have at least one camera, that’s all they know. One more thing is rumored that the tablet will not be running Blackberry OS 6, but it will be running a QNX software. So folks, we don’t have much information about the tablet, but the reason of the tablet is to compete with other tablets available in the market at the moment. Currently Apple iPad is one of the most successful, and the Galaxy S is not out yet, but there’s a lot of hype which means it will be a good thing to use. As HTC and Motorola is also going to launch tablets really soon, so next year will be the year of tablets because we are going to see tablets from all bad boys out there, who’s your favorite?
